Cyanotypes with Steven Cavanagh

Ages: 7-12
Date: 20 January 2024
Time: 10am-12pm
Where: Platform Arts Hub Blayney
Cost: $5

In this workshop you will investigate some of analogue photography’s visual and possibilities where chance and mark making are a welcome components of your planned process.

You will explore image making via cyanotype. This technique invites you to play with the photographic medium and to devise your own particular creative interpretation and response to it. You will use light as a tool, using the light sensitive liquid of cyanotype activated by the sun to make unique artworks in the colour blue. Create unusual and dreamlike images and shapes while you explore a series of challenges to make new and unexpected works of art. Your photographic process can be viewed as a single action or at times a collaboration with a photographic outcome.

This workshop has been designed as a series of short response activities in which you will discover aspects of photography’s unique relationship to image making. We will use recycled cardboard, plants and objects to create artworks. Please bring up to 5 solid or transluscent objects you like that are no larger than your hand and start exploring the endless possibilities of cyanotype!

All other materials and morning tea provided.

Please wear clothes suitable for messy art-making.

Places are limited. Register here.

This event is funded by the NSW Government Reconnecting Regional NSW Community Event Program.
